JOB DESCRIPTION:  
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:  

  1. Associates degree or higer/60 credit hours college/or parapro work (HQ)

  2. Knowledge of state and local laws/regulations and procedures

  3. Excellent human relatons skills

  4. Effective oral and written communication skills

  5. Experience in working in a culturally diverse community setting

  6. Bilingual in English & Spanish (Preferred)

  7. Sensivity to cultural needs

  8. Must possess quality of empathy for and have the ability to establish rapprot with students and adults

  9. Must have a demonstrated interest in the entire educational system

  10. Valid drivers license with a good driving record and current insurance

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Performance Responsibilities



  1. Functions as part of a team to provide assistance to students, families and staff to ensure a successful school experience.

  2. Provides oral and written translation services as needed

  3. Works closely with school staff to obtain necessary information and provide assistance to families

  4. Conducts homes visits to provide support and assistance to student and their families

  5. Directs families to community services and social service agencies as needed

  6. Assists and supports the Title I parent groups at the school and district level.

  7. Identifies and provides services needed to homeless and migrant school populations

  8. Builds and maintains effective relationships with diverse groups

  9. Multi-tasks and thrives in a fast paced, performance driven environment

  10. Assists with follow- up to student attendance concerns

  11. Acts as liaison with neighborhood associations

  12. Develops connections between staff, parents, and students

  13. Uphold and enforces school rules, administration instructions and regulations, board policy and state/federal regulations

  14. Assists with providing general information or assistance to non-English speaking parents or students

  15. Writes routine reports and correspondence, and keep accurate records for required reporting

  16. Coordinaes and oversee adult education activities, including but not limited to ESL and parenting classes


BUS MONITOR DUTIES



  1. Assiss students with safe and orderly boarding and dis-boarding on the school bus

  2. Monitors and supervises student behavior on bus to keep environment safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate

  3. Monitors student concerns and needs on bus

  4. Communicateswith teachers, principals and parent concerns related to student travel time on bus

  5. Keeps all required paperwork of daily travel and student behaviors

  6. Reports unusal events to principals
